Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at the Brewhouse courtyard at Langley House, Buckinghamshire. One trench was excavated in order to establish the character and extent of any extant outbuildings constructed within the courtyard of the listed building. One trench measuring 10m long by 2m wide was excavated within the area revealing the presence of a late post-medieval/modern brick wall and associated demolition spreads. These spreads overlaid a rubble filled void linked to the surviving brick structure. Intrusive investigations into this void were halted due to Health and Safety reasons but it was believed that this indicated the presence of a previous basement or cellar. |
