Abstract: |
AOC Archaeology Group undertook a watching brief at Deephams Seawage Treatment Works, Edmonton . Analysis of the despoists and features observed during the course of the watching brief have identified several phases of activity on site associated with the 16th to 20th centuries. The earliest phase was the accumulation of an agricultural soil horizon overlying natural sandy gravels, thought to be generally associated with the post-medieval period. A large boundary ditch and structure were constructed on site by the 18th to 19th century believed to be associated with part of the Deephams Farm complex. Disturbance in the latter part of the 20th century has been limited to cutting of service trenches across the area of the trench. |
