Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation consisting of three trail trenches measuring 4m by 1.8m, 10m by 1.8m and 17m by 1.8m. Trial Trench 2 (10m by 1.8m) revealed three linear cut features on of which produced pottery sherds dating to the 11th century. As a result further work was rquired. Trenches 1 and 3 contained no significant features or deposits. Trench 2 was expanded to create an roughly rectangular area measuring 17m by 13m. The trench contained two large northwest - southeast running ditches (one medieval, one post-medieval), a post-medieval watercourse and a series of agricultural field drains. |
