Abstract: |
This single trench did not reveal any significant archaeological remains. There was evidence for a cut feature at the northwestern end of the trench. However, this was of recent date and most likely to be contemporary with the construction of the house (No. 5 The Green) in the early 20th century. The exposed southwest facing section revealed a truncated soil profile (also at the time of construction of the house) and a series of dumped and reworked deposits above the natural. Natural sands and gravel were encountered at depth of approximately 900mm below the present ground surface. |
