Abstract: |
The proposed extension of the Menear Household Waste Recycling Centre by SITA would damage part of the remains of the extensive tin streaming landscape of the Garkar Sett. Northamptonshire Archaeology was commissioned by RPS to carry out an initial earthwork survey and then a watching brief during the development. Lengths of three stone edged leats were recorded as earthworks and other possible examples were identified as soil marks. All the remains were undated and part of a much more extensive system probably related to post-medieval tin streaming. |
