Abstract: |
A sporadic watching brief was maintained by Gifford during the demolition programme at the site with regular visits to inspect pile-probing works. One area of such investigation, at the central eastern edge of the site, revealed surviving remains which required further work by PCA. This revealed the truncated remains of a 19th century probable chimney base and a brick structure that may have formed part of a building or had an industrial function. Elsewhere the demolition watching brief showed only disturbed made ground suggesting that the site had been heavily impacted by previous development in the later post-medieval and modern periods. |
