Abstract: |
University of Leicester Archaeological Services was commissioned by Mrs G. Curley to undertake an archaeological watching brief during groundworks in advance of the construction of new detached garage at Catthorpe Hall, Catthorpe, Leicestershire. The proposed development area had been identified as being of archaeological potential, located within the historic settlement core of the village. No definite archaeological features were encountered during the course of the watching brief, however a number of sherds of medieval pottery, as well as a single sherd of late Saxon pottery were recovered, suggesting nearby medieval settlement activity, possibly within the grounds of the Hall. The archive will be held by Leicestershire County Council, under the accession number X.A169. 2010. |
