Abstract: |
The excavation of a single trench was initially archaeologically monitored and then arcaheologically undertaken. It was located within the limited area of the site which had escaped truncation by basements; elsewhere the site had been heavily disturbed by double basemented structures and bomb damage during the Second World War. Several archaeological features were discovered during the excavation of the trench, most of which dated to the 18th and 19th centuries. However, a few of the features identified dated to the earlier post-medieval period, with the possibility that one of these, a pit or ditch, may even be of Mid-Saxon date. |
