Abstract:		 The watching brief found evidence for a natural sand layer, sealed by late 19th/20th century made ground, in the northwest of the site at c.0.50m below the current ground surface. Natural deposits were not encountered elsewhere on site and the remainder of the deposits within the monitored trenches was constituted by made ground, concrete slabs, basements associated with the development of the site in the late 19th/20th century and demolition material.
