Abstract:
A historic building survey was undertaken of the tower of St Nicholas' Church, Deptford. The church consists of a late medieval tower, dating from the late 15th to early 16th century, and nave, dating to 1697. The church is of historic interest, being representative of high quality architecture from the late 15th to early 20th centuries, little of which survives locally. The work undertaken consisted of plans, detailed stone by stone elevations, and sections and architectural details of the interior and exterior of the tower. Also, external elevations of the cleaned fabric, a record of the mortar and a record of the tower's appearance post-conservation were created. In addition a full photographic survey was undertaken. This work was commisioned in part fulfilment of the conditions attached to the grant of Listed Building Consent and Scheduled Monument Consent for the repair and conservation to the tower.
