Abstract:		 A watching brief was maintained during the excavation of a launch pit during the replacement of a culvert under the London-Penzance railway line and the adjacent A379. A series of alluvial deposits associated with the River Exe were exposed, overlain by 19th-century reclamation material. No archaeological features were present and no finds retained.
