An archaeological watching brief was carried out as a condition of Scheduled Monument Consent during the installation of a new and replacement fence on the playing field at Cirencester Primary School, Victoria Road, Cirencester (Scheduled Monument no. Archaeological features and deposits of Roman date were recorded, including two stone walls, a possible surface, demolition deposits and dumped deposits used to raise ground levels. The finds assemblage comprised 28 sherds of pottery of Roman date, 22 fragments of ceramic building material and a Roman steelyard weight. |
