Abstract: |
Within Trenches 1 and 2, topsoil overburden of up to 1.20m in depth provided a protective cover over any putative archaeological remains such as a shallow ditch observed in Trench 1 of unknown date. In Trench 3, two possible phases of Roman occupation probably existed. The earlier phase consisted of two shallow cuts of uncertain form and function that were abandoned allowing wind-blown sand to accumulate. The later phase comprised a cobbled surface and possible adjacent beam slot. |
