Abstract: |
9 Window Samples were mointored prior to the development of a new residential housing on Peabody Avenue. The site lies between the edge of the lower lying (paleo-channel) part of the flood plain and the Lupus Street eyot. In the northern area of the site massive truncation had occurred due to bomb damage and Victorian sewer construction. In the southern area of the site a post medieval (and possibly earlier) soil or landsurface was buried underneath made ground, this seems to suggest on site horticulture or garden agriculture. Bellow that is evidence of changing fluvial regimes in the Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene. This suggests that the Lupus Street eyot extends further west than previously thought. |
