Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the construction of a new building on land at the rear of 20 West Street, Tavistock. The exposed levelling deposits are interpreted as relating to early 19th-century remodelling of the town by the Dukes of Bedford, which includes significant raising up of the land on the floodplain of the River Tavy. |
