Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during the ground works for the installation of a 850kW wind turbine on Gallows Hill to the N of mains of Balquhain. S of the site is the 15th-century castle of Balquhain (NMRS NO: NJ72SW 5), while to the SE on the lower slopes of the hill lies a recumbent stone circle with cup marked stones (NMRS NO: NJ72SW 2). The access track extended uphill for 180m and linked up with the area cleared for the turbine base and hard standing measuring 43.5m by 30m. No archaeological features or finds were evident. |
