Abstract: |
A strip, map and sample was undertaken on land at Millbrook, Axminster in association with groundwork carried out for residential development. Up to 1.5m depth of modern overburden was removed from much of the area where it directly overlay the natural gravels and alluvium indicating preceding phases of ground redutcion. A single linear feature was exposed cut into the natural. It measured c.22m long by c.900mm wide and was orientated broadly northwest to southeast. One sherd of medieval pottery and two chert flakes were recovered from its fill. No other features were identified. |
