Abstract: |
A measured survey and building survey was undertaken of a former mine shop, lime kiln, set of bouse teams, mine level, spoil heap and associated features as part of a management plan for the site (Higher Level Stewardship). This stand alone report forms part of the wider management plan. Mohopehead Lead Mine is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and is believed to have been worked in the early 19th century as a small lead mining site and ore works. The archaeological survey and building survey recorded the Mine Shop, a lime kiln, set of Bouse Teams and Mine Level, along with features related to the mining such as the spoil heap, trackways and the possible dressing floor. |
