Abstract: |
A Level 2 building survey was undertaken of a Victorian villa constructed at some point between 1853 and 1864 prior to its demolition and redevelopment of the site. Research has indicated that the property was constructed at some point between 1844 and 1861, but possibly after 1853 when the common land was enclosed. The building survey revealed the property to have been a substantial Victorian villa constructed to take full advantage of the sea views from the high ground it occupied. Externally the property has altered little apart from the removal of a range of outbuildings. Internally very little original features survived although the floor plans remained essentially the same as originally constructed. |
