Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East was commissioned by Clancy Docwra to undertake an archaeological watching brief during groundworks associated with the installation of a new rising main at Ford Waste Water treatment Works, Ford, West Sussex (NGR: SU 9960 0270). Groundworks included the excavation of a pipe trench 0.3m wide and 0.8-0.9m deep around the perimeter of the Water Treatment Works and up to the current Ford Road. Two ditches dating to the LBA and an undated burnt pit were uncovered to the southwest of the site. Elsewhere no further archaeological features existed. The site had seen heavy truncation from construction of roads/runways associated with the former airfield on the site, and significant truncation from unplanned gas and electrical services. |
