Abstract: |
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey, covering approximately 20 hectares, was carried out at Carland Cross Wind Farm, Cornwall, in advance of the proposed construction of a ten turbine wind farm. The survey covered areas of 1 hectare, centred on each turbine base, and a 20m wide corridor along the route of the access tracks and cable runs. No anomalies of probable archaeological potential have been identified. Three linear trend anomalies have been identified that have a possible archaeological interpretation. However, a geological, natural or pedological interpretation is considered equally possible. Anomalies caused by former field boundaries and ridge and modern ploughing have also been identified throughout. Despite the known potential of the surrounding landscape the areas likely to be impacted by the proposed development appear to have a low potential based on the results of the geophysical survey. |
