Abstract: |
In September 2013 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried an archaeological evaluation to the rear of the Saracens Public House, High Street, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. The evaluation was commissioned by Thorne Barton Estates in compliance with an archaeological condition attached to planning approval for a development of four two-bed flats. The Saracen's Head dates from the 16th century, and had a late 18th century brewhouse next door and a malthouse to the rear. The evaluation revealed two parallel post-medieval ditches and a modern service. The lack of remains might be surprising except that the evaluation was small. |
