Abstract: |
Between the 15 of January and the 21st of January 2014 Oxford Archaeology East carried out an archaeological test pit evaluation at Wimpole Park, Cambridgeshire. The work was carried out on behalf of the National Trust following a scheme agreed with English Heritage. A total of 180 test pits were dug in advance of tree planting to restore the historic parkland of the formal gardens. Of these were 22 deemed to be in archaeologically sensitive areas (a Scheduled Monument). Evidence of building platforms, a cobbled surface, a track way, and an 18th century brick built culvert were found within the test pits. |
