Abstract: |
Northamptonshire Archaeology undertook an archaeological watching brief during the insertion of a new outfall pipe at Swinderby Sewage Treament Works, Thurlby, Lincolnshire. The work exposed substantial fragments of an early prehistoric (Neolithic to early Bronze Age) pot. Two modern ditches were also observed. A few highly abraded potsherds of medieval and Roman date were recovered from the topsoil. The topsoil also contained small pieces of metal debris, believed to derive from the crash of an Avro Manchester during the Second World War. |
