Abstract: |
Following an evaluation by Alder in 2013 (site code AG05, alderarc1-157110) of the site of a proposed housing development in the vicinity of the Pitcrocknie standing stone, an excavation was mounted around one trench (TR03) in which prehistoric remains had been exposed. A square measuring 20m x 20m was excavated. A truncated pit containing earthenware potsherds and a hearth feature set into a fire pit were exposed. Radiocarbon dates indicated a Neolithic origin for both features (3628 and 3634calBC). Quartz and quartzite lithics were also recovered. |
