Abstract: |
Headland Archaeology conducted a programme of archaeological works on the site of Portobello Park as part of the planning application for the construction of a new High School. This programme of works followed a geophysical survey of the area and comprised an intrusive evaluation at the site by means of trial trenching. The work was commissioned by Edinburgh City Council. The geophysical survey was used in conjunction with historic maps in order to inform the position of the trenches. In total 29 trenches were excavated totalling 1687 linear meters, revealing a significant number tile and rubble field drains. No features or artefacts of archaeological significant were recorded during these works. D Wilson Headland Archaeology Ltd. 2011 |
