Abstract: |
Evaluation trenching following archaeological desk-based assessment by Cornwall Archaeological Unit in 2014 and a separate geophysical survey by Archaeophysica Ltd in the same year. Combined the results indicated a range of features likely to be representative of prehistoric and Romano-British activity including possible field systems, boundaries, trackways, enclosures, roundhouses, and a mortuary barrow. If correct, this would represent evidence of a well-established farming community that could indeed be of regional and possibly national significance. More recent activity in the form of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation and relic field boundaries is also indicated. |
