Abstract:
In April and May 2013, Foundations Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological evaluation on land at Lanthrone, Tideford Cross, Cornwall. The project comprised the excavation and recording of 19 trenches across a proposed development area, in order to test and refine the results of a previous geophysical survey. The evaluation, in conjunction with the geophysical survey, has identified an undated square enclosure at the east of the site, along with later Medieval - Post-medieval agricultural and quarrying activity at the west. Numerous undated former agricultural boundaries, along with some undated, isolated pits, were also present within the site. A single struck flint represented limited evidence for Prehistoric activity within the general locale. A small amount of later Medieval - Post-medieval pottery, along with bone, glass and metal probably represented general agricultural or domestic detritus.
