Abstract: |
This report presents the results of a desk-based assessment, and historic visual impact assessment carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) on land at Blackpool Quarry, St. Mewan, Cornwall in advance of the construction of a 50m (77m to tip) wind turbine. The site of the proposed turbine at Blackpool Quarry is located on Burngullow Common, within the parish of St Mewan, to the north of settlements of Burngullow and Trewoon. The manor of Burngullow, is first recorded in 1791, and was one of the numerous holdings of the Agar-Robartes of Lanhydrock. There are five Grade I and twelve Grade II* Listed buildings or groups of buildings within 10km of the site that fall within the ZTV, together with 39 Grade II Listed buildings or groups. There are 26 relevant Scheduled Monuments 10km. There are further designated assets, primarily Grade II Listed buildings and Conservation Areas, which fall outside of the ZTV. |
