Abstract:
This report describes a geophysical survey which has been completed as part of an archaeological field evaluation of a site on the Halstow Marshes adjacent to the Thames estuary in north Kent. The survey has detected extensive magnetic activity, much of which is characteristic of the magnetic variation commonly found on former wetland areas. The presence and distribution of this magnetic activity serves to distinguish drained marsh from silted palaeochannels, and so provides information relating to the landscape history of the site.
