Abstract:
The site sits within a shrunken village represented by medieval and post-medieval earthworks of enclosures, ridge and furrow and quarrying. A Saxo-Norman ditch appears to have been the earliest feature crossing the site, over which a medieval post-built structure with a clay floor was subsequently constructed. From the 14th century, the site was turned over to farming and a soil layer built up. By the 17th century a hollow way had been cut through the east of the site, adjacent to which was a terrace of structures; the site was abandoned in the 18th century.
