Abstract: |
On the 10th and 11th October 2011, Oxford Archaeology East carried out an archaeological evaluation on land at Valiant Square, Bury, Cambridgeshire. This was in advance of the construction of housing. The evaluation revealed a single furrow and two undated ditches. The furrow is a remnant of an agricultural system, widely used across England in the medieval and post-medieval periods. The two ditches were on the same alignment as each other and were 4m apart, suggesting they may have formed a trackway. They contained no finds, although one appeared to cut the furrow, this relationship was uncertain. They do not appear on the 1st edition OS map. The lack of accurate dating evidence for these ditches makes interpretation difficult. There were no finds recovered during the evaluation. |
