Abstract: |
An historic building record of apotropaic marks within the hayloft was prepared in advance of the conversion of the hayloft to accommodation. Underhayes is a farmhouse of early to mid 17th-century date. The apotropaic marks are located within what is probably an 18th-century extension at the lower end of the house formerly containing stables on the ground floor with the hayloft above. They consist of circles, daisy wheels and a recurring theme of the letters 'V', 'W' and 'M' style crossing of lines. |
