Abstract:		 Intensive field walking survey was undertaken as part of an archaeological assessment in advance of upgrading of the A1. Two sets of cropmarks had been identified outside of the route corridor, a third site, a ploughed down square earthwork, was situated inside the corridor. The presence of a flint concentration, and lack of Roman pottery, suggested a prehistoric date for the earthwork. The fieldwalking survey did not reveal the possible nature and extent of the two cropmark sites. [Au(abr)]
