Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment identified four areas of archaeological potential along the proposed route of a new bypass. These comprised cropmarks at the northern end of the route; the parish boundary between Caistor and Nettleton along which Roman cremations have been previously found; two moated sites to the west of the route in Nettleton parish; and a possible Anglo-Saxon cemetery near the junction of the bypass and the A46. Geophysical surveys undertaken as an extension to the desk-based assessment identified a number of possible ditches. [Au(adp)] |
