Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring during groundworks for the construction of a new access path and electricity cable to the church revealed that the west door threshold had been repositioned on a base of clay and roof tile fragments and concrete, probably during the reduction in the size of the church in the mid-19th century. Late 19th and early 20th century refuse pits and demolition deposits were found in the area of the nave. A structure of unknown purpose, comprising two courses of mortared red brick was also revealed. [AIP] |
