Abstract: |
A watching brief during topsoil removal for gravel quarrying identified an area where archaeological deposits had been truncated or removed during a previous phase of gravel extraction in 1847, and revealed a number of features relating to the deserted medieval village of Kettleby Thorpe including a moated platform, field boundary ditches, a sunken pathway, circular pits, pits and beam-slots from a building, evidence of industrial activity and the old course of a stream channel.
