Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was undertaken in respect of a proposed residential development. The results of the report suggested that the archaeological potential of the site was moderate to moderately high, but it also suggested that a significant proportion of the archaeological resource would already had been destroyed as a result of developments during the 19th and 20th centuries. It was suggested that a protracted scheme of archaeological investigation may not have been appropriate, given the scale of destruction that had resulted from past developments. However, it was conclusion that a relatively low-level investigation involving a selective watching brief and/auger survey may have been an appropriate means of recovering information in advance of/during the intended development.
