Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in close proximity to the site of the medieval Hough Priory. A single north-south orientated post-medieval ditch, probably a field boundary and/or for drainage, was revealed. This ditch contained a large amount of animal bone and appeared to have also been used for the disposal of dead livestock or butchery/food waste. This feature may have been located on the eastern edge of the grounds or complex of the 17th century Hall. Several north-south orientated plough furrows and an associated ploughsoil horizon of probable relatively recent origin were also identified. [Au(abr)]
