Abstract: |
An evaluation trench found evidence of a channel or ditch aligned east/west, containing pottery of 12th-13th century date. Subsequent to the filling in of the channel it appeared that the area formed part of a rear yard to properties fronting on to the High Street. The ground may have levelled/cleared as there were no remains dating to the period between 13th and 19th centuries. Foundation design for the building had yet to be finalised but would comprise a raft. Overall, it was considered that the impact of the development on archaeological remains would be low. [Au(abr)] |
