Abstract:
Building recording was undertaken at Millfields Road, Bilston, Wolverhampton (NGR SO 934 963). It was undertaken on behalf of Coltham Developments Ltd, who intend to demolish the currentbuildings and construct an industrial warehouse for which a planning application has been approved. The project aimed to produce a record of the historic buildings on the site. The buildings form part of the John Thompson Ltd company of boiler tube makers, although the these particular buildings were a Motor Pressings Works and chassis manufacturer, the parent works being located just to the north. The first building was constructed on the site around 1910 with later buildings being constructed in the 1930s. This included an impressive office building with limestone window and door cills. The first building on the site was also extended in the 1930s using Belfast trusses and steel stanchions from Consett.
