Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation was undertaken consisting of 33 trenches. Archaeological deposits identified included: Roman occupation/industrial activity and landscape management features, medieval and post-medieval boundaries and ridge and furrow cultivation evidence. No primary deposits associated directly with industrial processes were encountered, but the recovery of iron slag, indicated that iron smelting and possibly smithing was carried out in the vicinity during the Roman period and possibly again in the medieval period.
