Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring works were carried out in support of construction work on land adjacent to Carcaston House, Jackton. The archaeological works were designed to mitigate the impact on the archaeological remains within their development area. Two sherds of Scottish Post-Medieval sherds of possible late 15th to 16th century date recovered from the topsoil likely related to the known adjacent settlement at Newlands which was first labelled on Pont's map in 1596. However, the works did not identify the presence of any significant archaeological features within the development area itself, with the only archaeological features present relating to agricultural activity. |
