Abstract: |
A Level 1 standing building survey was carried out of the south half of the farmstead and a photographic survey of the north half on 21 November 2016. The main buildings 1 and 2 appear to have been constructed in one phase and form a C-shaped steading with later cattle court in the courtyard. Building 2 is the remains of a two-room bothy and there is a demolished Dutch barn on the E side of Building 2. There are initials (JN) and a date (1891) scratched into one of the stones on the S exterior wall of Building 1. These buildings were probably constructed in the early 19th-century and were fully developed by the First Edition OS map. |
