Abstract:		 A 2001 strategic survey of the county's urban archaeology concluded that the pioneering market-towns assessments on the mid-1990s by the Central Marches Historic Towns Survey were already in need of revision and enhancement. This was addressed by undertaking archaeological profiles for each town. The Kington profile includes an up-to-date gazetteer of archaeological interventions, a townscape characterisation with maps showing the dates (insofar as they are known) of each individual building in the historic core, recommendations for the future and an archaeological research agenda
