Abstract: |
Evaluation by Pre-Construct Archaeology in 2003 found evidence for possible Roman drainage ditches and a single prehistoric/Roman unurned cremation burial. Four features were found during excavation by Wessex Archaeology in 2004. Of these, three appeared to be natural marshland channels, and the fourth a post-medieval drainage ditch. Post-medieval activity in the area appears to have been curtailed by flooding, which was represented by a thick layer of alluvium that overlay all features. |
