Abstract:		 An evaluation was carried out by Wessex Archaeology in advance of redevlopment. A single trench excavated in the northern part of the site uncovered the remains of a petrol holding tank and backfilled cellar. A brick-built wall provided evidence of the 19th-century building fronting onto the High Street of which the backfilled cellar had been part. No evidence of activity pre-dating the 19th century was observed and it was concluded that any archaeological deposits on the property frontage had probably been either destroyed or very much truncated.
