Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology carried out a watching brief at the site which lies within the area of the medieval manor of Dagenham and Cockerells and is some 80m south-east of The Cockerells, a medieval earthwork and Scheduled Ancient Monument. The excavation of 30 building footings, each measuring 1.20m by 0.60m and 1.15m deep, and of a drainage trench further to the north were monitored, but no archaeological deposits or finds were present. The site appears to have been much truncated, probably during the construction of the school. |
