Abstract: |
Multi-season research and training excavation. The project is aimed at applying modern excavation techniques to a Roman settlement site in Lincolnshire, with a date range from the 1st to 3rd centuries. This season's excavation produced evidence for a stone-built structure with hypocausts. The building was heavily robbed-out and then damaged by later ploughing. A further masonry structure appeared to have functioned as a 'plunge-pool'. A single infant inhumation was also excavated. Evidence of the status of the building was obtained in the form of numbers of tesserae and fragments of painted wall plaster. |
