Abstract: |
On the 21st Oxford Archaeology East conducted an historical building survey and archaeological evaluation at the former British Legion Headquarters at Bardwell, Suffolk. The site is under development with plans for the erection of nine houses with associated parking spaces. The building survey work was carried out in response to a brief issued by Suffolk County Council Conservation Team. The brief required that a historic building survey was carried out on the existing build to meet the requirements of English Heritages building survey at level 1 The building consisted of a pre-fabricated corrugated iron structure that was originally used as an isolation hospital at Fornham, West Suffolk. It was purchased and moved to it present location in 1935. To the present day the building has seen minimal exterior alterations. Internally the building has been altered to suit it's latter use as a social club and meeting room. |
